I’m back! IN NYC!

Okay, I disappeared for a while…several months actually..but in the back of my mind I kept thinking “Gotta update my blog, gotta update my blog” but every time I had this thought, I already had like 100 things I needed to do..so I pushed it back…my apologies. :(

But the main reason I haven’t done this little blogging experiment to gauge my professional thoughts is because: I HAVE MOVED TO NYC!

If you look a few blog posts back..during Summer of 2011, I was seriously regretting not moving to NYC…alot. I was pondering these thoughts over and over and wrote a neat little list of reasons who NYC was for me…so what happened? Let me tell you…

I spent about 2.5 months in BOSTON applying for jobs in corporate training, having completed an amazing internship at Babson College, had a 3.8 GPA, all the top professional organizations, and being a masterful networker (grabbing cards from top people at State Street Bank, Fidelity, Chase Bank, JP Morgan, everyone under the sun! Applying at all the hospitals!) But it was a BIG failure. For several reasons:

  • Boston has a tough economy, I knew of many people who were looking for a job and struggling…
  • Boston has WAY TOO MANY EDUCATED PEOPLE and NOT ENOUGH JOBS…I have said this countless times to who ever would listen
  • All the main Training jobs were in the Suburbs of MA and I was NOT willing (or able to swallow the idea) of driving 45 minutes to and fro for a job and live in Boston. traffic is horrible.

So during OCT of 2011, a good friend of mine in NYC allowed me to visit, and when she heard my plight, she invited me to stay in NYC and look for a job there! And let me tell you,  I took that risk immediately. I moved and over the course of about 3 months (I still went to Boston EVERY WEEKEND to visit family and make some $$ managing a boat cruise over there), I steadily interviewed! I saw many more training jobs in the city..and had some interesting phone interviews, with the following companies:

  • Staples Corporation (Two interviews, but I ended up turning it down due to NJ location. Wonderful people though.)
  • New York Presbyterian Church (3 Interviews, last one with the rudest recruiter I ever met)
  • Metropolitan Hospital (Fabulous people, had 3 interviews but no cigar..temp-to-perm contract work so it was ok.
  • Innovatix (Medical Sales Company) (2 great interviews, but they didn’t pull trigger)
  • Diesel Corporation (Fabulous phone interview, but I think my salary requirements scared them off).
  • Hofsta University (Average phone interview, no follow-up)

Several smaller phone interviews which ranged from great to average. I had a strange phone interview where the recruiter asked me to describe my personality in 3 adjectives…the entire interview had  no questions about my work, just behavioral questions, even though I was told to research the company thoroughly, not one question was about their company.

And January was coming. In December, sooo many more jobs were popping up, imagine when budgets were organized and January approached. Then it happened, I got a job!

Haven’t started it yet, but when I do you will know where. But that’s it, corporate privacy. I will share my adventures as I restart my networking circuit come spring…I have joined ASTD NYC, will reconsider TOASTMASTERS NYC, and am a member of ALPFA NYC, to say the least. As I dive more into my passion for training, I will tell y ou what I learn about human nature, employee motivation, and how to improve productivity from a new trainer’s eyes.

I’M SO HAPPY I GOT A JOB!

For 2012 is off to a good start, and NYC has been good to me. I have several other mini projects up my sleeves, not to mention I aim to start a certificate in executive coaching this year!

So I gotta say..HAPPY NEW YEAR

to all you readers…and know that this woman is going far!

Till next time-

Let the Networking Events Begin!

What a summer!

Beaches, and BBQ’s, earthquakes and hurricanes! Now it’s approaching fall, and the night air has become noticeably chillier, but that hasn’t stopped my energy of enjoying life and networking.  And it is September, there are plenty of them coming up for me. Here is a description of them…

September 9th: Harvard University Lecture, “The Past, Present and Future of Women in the Workplace“  at the Radcliffe Center for Advanced Study.

By doing some research of lecture style events at higher education institutions, I was able to find a wonderful “woman empowerment” event to attend at Harvard.  A list of panelists discussed various features of the state of employment for women in our current economic state, and it was an eye-opener to hear it from the horse’s mouth. Here is what I learned…(and tweeted if you follow me, PostGradGG)

  • Race and Gender still plays a huge role in salary differences! This does have to do with job selection between the genders, like most management jobs have caucasian males in them, more blue-collar jobs have male workers and most lower service jobs have female workers. But more women are in college than men, receiving higher degrees, so this may change in the future if the hiring system changes which favors the male candidate for some reason. Men do pick the higher paying jobs and degrees though.
  • Woman and men equally lost their jobs in the recession, but men are the ones that are dramatically being rehired based on statistics. This is due to discrimination over the male role, including “having to support a family”, and their work is more competent or valuable. The male effect on household is untrue as the nature of the modern family has changed, including the idea of marriage. Most people in their 20′s are holding off marriage and starting a family. So to hire a man because he will eventually need to support a family is crap, as there are plenty of female-led families (single family homes).
  • Women are still underpaid compared to men, (last I did research at graduate school for a project..it was 80 cents to the dollar). This has a lot to do with their negotiation power, as women do tend to either not negotiate, or not do so aggressively. Also, employers do not offer as much a salary to females as males, for reasons already mentioned. Some people have complained that it’s the job choices between men and women that cause the 20% difference, which is true, but within the same industry, woman are paid less than men in the same career.
  • Amazingly, there are as many single family homes led by women as dual incomes homes now. The modern family huh? Most of these single mom households are integrated in the younger, non-white populations of Black and Latino. This is ad, and a big societal problem that has to curbed, as too many children born out-of-wedlock produce a scarcity of resources, and an overall lower quality of life for those poor children. Unfortunately, despite race, being a single mom is the largest group in poverty in the U.S.
  • The tradition of marriage is much more common for those in the middle or higher income groups! Marriage creates a financial stability that allows a surplus of financial resources and benefits, securing the class level of those in the middle/upper class. Marriage is a form a business partnership. The middle/upper class populations are flourishing in our current economy compared to everyone else.
  • Maternity discrimination is at an all-time high! Businesses are not supporting women that want to balance work/life and have a family. That is terrible!

So what does all this statistics tell me? Well, it tells me to focus on my career, make sure I am paid fairly, delay having kids until later ( I don’t want a family until mid-30′s to be honest with you), marry the right person to build a strong financial footing, and that I have a lot of role model potential as a leader of my community. It also told me my dream of getting my degree in Coaching is a smart one, one that I should look into seriously once I find my corporate job!

Lastly, this lecture taught me that I have come a long way to have my Masters degree, and that the journey is long, the recession has affected everyone, bu to think positive and move forward boldly.

I also got to meet a wonderful woman at this event, Susan E. Reed, a new author of “The Diversity Index“,

which is an intensive review of many Fortune 100 diversity policies, and the truth of diversity within the organization. I have ordered the book and you should too:  http://www.amacombooks.org/book.cfm?isbn=9780814416495&page=CoverCopy

Speaking of books, I have picked up “The Four Hour Workweek” by Timothy Ferris, and have fallen in love with it. It’s a business book on productivity and all these little laws to boost your results. Do check it out.

Now tonight, I am attending another networking event, this one at Simmons School of Management, a lecture by the VP of Market Development at IBM, Marilyn Johnson.

Topics will include:

• Advancing in the corporate world from a woman of color
perspective
• Marilyn’s Experience and advise for future women leaders
• Marilyn’s work in Global Women Market Development

Marilyn has received many awards and recognitions including:

•“The Top 25 Influential Black Women” by The Network Journal Magazine
•“The Profiles of Prominence Award” from the National Women of Achievement, Inc
•“Corporate Visionary Award” from The Count Me In – Women’s Business Growth Forum
•”Corporate Supporter of Women Entrepreneurs Award”

So you know I’m thrilled to be in the audience to learn from this great woman! Follow up on this experience will be in my next blog post.

TOMORROW, I have an ALPFA networking event (Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting) sponsored by Eaton Vance Management, and my wonderful friend, Bob Howell, Senior Recruiter at Eaton Vance.

On Thursday, the 15th, I have a lecture event by Michael Moore, famous documentary filmmaker of ”Bowling for Columbine” “Farenheit 911“ at Bunker Hill Community College that I have been invited to…this should be interesting! I also have decided to get into volunteer work with the Boston Cares organization..if interested, check out: http://www.bostoncares.org

I just feel inspired to give back and use some of my time in a more positive way, have always wanted to get into volunteer work so here I go! May update on this blog those adventures as well…Let’s see..what other events…?

  • I have an ASTD Regional Event I am going to attend on September 20th, run by Diane Darling! , President of the Boston Chapter. She spoke at the lat ALPFA event on “The Art of Networking” and she was WONDERFUL.
  • Hispanic Chamber of Commerce event on the 22nd, sponsored by Citizen’s Bank, Jerry Sargant, President of Citizens Bank will speak as well as State Representative Jeffrey Sanchez!
  • And..to finish up the month, I have on the 26th, a Latino leadership and Diversity event called “Implications for the Future” sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston!

Phew, told you I had a lot of fun, interesting events. I am still actively job-seeking for a training position, could be in the sales industry too. But I am not going to waste my time..I’m out there networking and enjoying my life! I’m open to any interesting projects, internships or job opportunities :)

Till next time ;)

Introspection via Sunny Days and Rest :)

Ok, its been over a month of blogging..I went into a deep state of introspection, and I still ended up with 974 views! Whoa! Therefore, here is my latest blog post…to give you an update of my wherebouts…

During my time away, I just really went into deep thought on what I wanted to do next. Sometimes you can’t force decisions, you just have to take it a day at a time until the answer reveals it..and that is what happened to me. I realized that I wanted to STAY IN BOSTON and nail a job here! So my current adventure is joining the countless others in job-searching in MA. :/

But I am not letting that get in my way. I believe a few things about my situation:

-I have a Masters degree, some great work experience in training, coaching, business development, sales, marketing and account management.

-My internship at Babson College as a consultant, involving instructional design, coaching, assessments, and project management was great experience.

-I have alot to offer a company, I’m extroverted, healthy, personable, a quick learner and ambitious.

Overall, I feel that I will God will open the door to the right job for me when the time is right. I’m sticking to my guns and aiming for one in my exact career track, because their is soo much I envision achieving in the Training field over the next 10-20 yrs. I could get a job in another field easy, but I’m not taking that path. In the mean time, I am ENJOYING MY SUMMER OFF! And why not? Once I nail a job, I will be working 9-5 for YEARS. So this POSTGRADGG is enjoying her time, spending it with family+friends, going to networking events, and even doing a summer internship!

That’s right. My internship is on consulting-based, on evaluating a sales training start-up, and their competitors. This also involves providing marketing, and business strategy. Great experience! Reflections on that later.

JULY 1st ALPFA NETWORKING EVENT: “From the Boardroom to Outer Space”

I went to a recent networking event on Latino Leadership, which was held at Fenway Park Pavilion, and sponsored by State Street Corp. And it was a truly inspiring event! Guest speakers included

Jose Hernandez; a retired NASA astronaut

and Juan Carlos Morales, CFO of State Street Global Advisors.

This experience was tremendous. Not only through networking I got to meet 4 amazing new connections, I got to hear from these amazing speakers. Juan Carlos was definately very straight to the point, and as he described his career progression and ideals on the economy, I felt empowered that a Latino with his background could be in so many leadership positions and just keep excelling. He has recently been named to head BNY Mellon Mexico. Wow.

The true transformational experience I had was with Jose Hernandez though. He described in a low-key, sometimes humorous, engaging style his childhood spent summers picking grapes with his siblings and parents and dreaming of going to the moon at 9 years. His parents, being very strict, but such great influences, told him he could be anything he wanted but he needed to follow some “Rules” first. They urged him that unless he went after his dream, whatever dream it was, he would know what he was doing 20 years down the road. It was such an engaging story, as a child he heard on the radio about the first and only latino astronaut, Franklin Chang-Diaz in 1981 and wished to be the second one. So he ended up devouring all knowledge on being an astronaut, and became a pilot to get closer to his goal of being an astronaut. and once he went to college, he studied eletrical engineering for both undergradate and gradaute degrees. Aww..such a great story. He shared his rules..and here they are..:

  1. “Know what you want to be”  Throughout my teens and twenties, I had wanted to be everything at least once, from artist, to make up artist, to actress for many years, to english teacher or psychologist in undergraduate, to entertainment lawyer, the list is endless. At 27 years old, I have settled finally on what I want to be: a Corporate trainer who is also an Entrepreneur, starting a business in Coaching (probably Health).
  2. Draw a map“  This is basically like plan out all your big goals and break them down to smaller goals. I do this regularly. Another name for it is IDP: individual development plan. I also like vision boards, putting goal charts for the month and day in plain sight..etc.
  3. “Don’t be afraid of hard work” To me, this means picking up various projects, networking, staying busy and on the trends of your career, working hard and late into your projects..just a good hustle!
  4. “Have heart and do what your passionate about, not for anyone else, for yourself!” At the end of the day, you are working at least 40 years, and spending 1/3 of your life involved in your work..why not do what you like? Then it will not feel like “work” and you will have the energy to overcome the unstoppable challeneges that will approach and stamina to keep achieiving to higher heights in it!
  5. Get the education to do it and perservere! With this fast-paced world, it is important to get educated and keep learning! NEVER STOP LEARNING! I don’t plan to ever stop..plus it keeps the mind young when old age appraches. Education is the only investment that is truly priceless, whose values far surpasses its expense…but only IF YOU TAKE ACTION. One piece of information is so powerful it has the ability to CHANGE YOUR LIFE. Therefore, keep learning.
  6. Remain humble and know where you came from” I grew up in a middle class family in the city of Boston. We did the best we could, had our struggles and grew strong, achieving our individual aims. How I am developing over the years is the culmination of all my various life experiences ranging from lower to upper class and I know I am destined for wealth in my future. The point is no matter what, value the simple things in life, and fight against envy..as their is always someone better and worst off than you are..therefore, remember where you came from and go after your dreams TODAY in order to be on your destiny and highest state.

These nuggets of wisdom, with my reflective state, and the sunny days are just uplifting my spirit so much, I’m truly happy with my life direction…and I know I’m on the right path..Which door will open for me? What company will invite my style, energy and passion for life to uplift their business? We will see.

Till next time, POSTGRADGG

Joel Olsteen and Summer in NYC?

So far, 732 views of this blog so far!  Leave a comment people!!

I recently just came back from a few days in NYC, and am inspired to look into the idea of summer in NYC more strongly.

Why? Well, I have a huge urge because:

1. I was born in Bronx, New York.

2. I’m the daughter of two native Nuyoricans, raised life-long in Boston.

3. I feel like my personality fits right in with New Yorkers.

4. NYC is a great location for training jobs.

5. Sticker shock isn’t too big of a deal as Boston has its sticker shock values on everything from taxes to rent as well.

6. I dislike driving, and enjoy walking and working out, and NYC commuting is one big gym.

7. I am inspired to go to NYU for the summer for a certificate in coaching!

8. I have met a number of New Yorkers recently who are just doing great.

9. I have a number of friends and family over there already.

10.  A good friend of mine just randomly brought up being roommates and enjoying the summer over there just to check things out!

So it might be meant to be. I am sending my energy out there to attract either a great TRAINING position or training-related internship my way.

Please email me at emilycorrea23@yahoo.com if you have any advice for me!!

Also, I was invited to the Joel Olsteen event in Boston this past Friday, and it was life-changing!

I have a spiritual side to me, like most people, and I have very tolerant to other religious beliefs, I meditate myself and have friends that are muslim, christian, jewish, everything..etc.

I firmly believe that EVERYONE needs a spiritual core to stabilize their lives and thoughts. Whether it’s going to a spiritual event, or a motivational speaking event like the ones I regularly go to on entrepreneurship, leadership, diversity, business, training, etc., it is ALL UPLIFTING, INSPIRATIONAL and DRIVES ME FORWARD.

Here is the 411:  My sister, Lynette and I (she owns a career coaching for kids business, www.CC4Kidz.us) nailed some truly perfect seats!

It was on the floor level, middle, and only 8 rows back! In the arena, it was like in the VIP section! And the arena had thousands of people..I was so surprised that so many Christian people were there.  And over the course of 3 hours, I got to get  receive some of the most inspirational messages from Joel Olsteen,

who looked straight at us several times. is wife, Victoria, was an incredible speaker as well. The event was in the style of a worship, it was truly amazing. If you are any type of Christian, and into this, he is touring and I recommend it 100%.

Here are some messages we received:

  • 2011 is the year of great change and victory. Forget all the problems you have had, and know that God will be ready to provide you double of what you need, and take away your lack. So if you want love, you will get double the love. Money? Double the money.
  • Be a victor, not a victim!
  • If you have a problem, have faith and don’t worry and surrender it to God because he already has the solution.
  • Solutions don’t occur the way we demand them or expect them. God knows what is right for us and what we need.
  • We can’t control the bad in the world or why bad things happen. Know that it could have been worst, and if we are alive and breathing, it is because we still have a purpose in this life.
  • This purpose could be that us being alive is needed because others in life needs us. Our time is not done yet.
  • God is control of miracles, and whatever he deems in answering prayers, no matter how impossible is in his hands

Just so many wonderful things. There I have the hope that I will find my true path.

Till next time,

Back from PR..Back to the Grind….

A week in Puerto Rico was such a wonderful trip. I got to experience the highs and lows of the island..from the luxury of a private resort style beach and warm, sparkling turquoise water….

..to the small gated weather-battered huts scattered outside the colorful main San Juan touristy downtown area….

It really A-mazing! to visit the only RAINFOREST in the U.S. and to hear the jungle sounds of “coquis” (Small frogs), insects and other creatures at night…tropical storms passed us by..andhours of 90 degree + weather..I got a mean sunburn! There was alot of Americans there..and I have loads of tips..here they are:

  • Sunscreen 50! Don’t play around with this sun..it’s at equator level so it will get ya!
  • Car insurance! Rent a car too! Drivers are aggressive here, road signs and exits are sometimes MIA and breakins have occured. Take all belongings.
  • You gotta visit El Yunque Rainforest! It’s free btw, so don;t fall for that $70 pp tour scam. Rather than walk through it, as it was tropical storms all week, my partner and I just drove all the way up the ascent..and I tell you, the road is VERY narrow, that to pass a car that was descending required GREAT skill. Waterfalls along the way…so worth it!

  • Definately visit the Tower there..the view was so worth it!!
  • Tourist traps GALORE. Definately YELP all restaurants and hotels before you go. Got sick from fried pastellitos from a KIOSK, and a fish dish I had was seriously overpriced at LA PARILLA. DON PEPE Restaurante refused to serve us because we wanted to do the outdoor seating…and the Hotel charged $15 for parking, but had a small free parking on the side. A place called ANJOLITOS’s was lovely outside with flowers and a garden and advertised “The Best PR Food in San Juan” but it was seriously the most tasteless worst prican food we had! I cook much better prican food!
  • Definately hit the castle/forts in OLD San Juan. We went to the Castillo de Cristobal and the ocean view were TO DIE FOR.
  • I loved that I got to practice my spanish, er..SPANGLISH. And yes, PR is very English-friendly.
  • Sales tax is 7%..but I have seen it vary…
  • The economy of PR thrives on tourism…although the downtown area has some great high-rise condos, aside from the resorts, alot of the area is sadly undeveloped, unmaintained little huts. Just be careful, have GPS ready, lock ya doors, NEVER flash cash!!
  • Overall, swimming in the Puerto Rican ocean was AMAZING..and I plan to definately go every year. Couldn’t  make it to La Culebra=#2 most beautiful beach in the world, but there’s a goal for my next trip! Don’t take the ferry btw, arrange private boat tour or plane transport ahead of time!
  • I had an incredible filet mignon and my partner had a rib-eye at the 4**** Grill Room. The restaurants at the Rio Mar Resort were also guaranteed great!

What I Learned:

  1. I need to travel more! I learned so much about myself and my values when I travelled. The view of the clouds and landscape while flying was so transcendential. Aww..
  2. I would love a training job where I travelled!
  3. Family and love comes first in life, as life is too short. I got more pleasure from getting them gifts than some other moments.
  4. Appreciate the good times, enjoy your money well, always pay for vacations in cash (I did=genius!!)
  5. When you play roulette, and pick a certain lucky number, stick with it for at least 10 tried through! I stopped for 5 turns then it hit twice!
  6. We are soo privilaged to be Americans, and living in such a wealthy country. Even though we have experienced the worst recession ever, we have so much wealth and standard of living compared to many others places around the world.
  7. Sometimes a career isn’t all that matters, love and the good moments in life, like peace and relaxing in nature are what makes up the special moments in life.

So I skipped out of my POSTGRADGG life for a week. Now I’m jumping back in. I got 2 new training jobs inquiries for interviews, making that a total of 4 so far, and I just graduated a week ago and didn’t even start applying for jobs. That’s pretty good! I love the interest! I think I will find the right job if I put my mind to it…I deserve it..

Till Next time!

Hasn’t hit me yet…

That in 1 day I will be graduating with my M.S. in Training and Development.

I’m actually more excited now that I will be in Puerto Rico, and away from this weather in 3 DAYS. I’m started to feel relief…and excited to don the bikini. ;) But walking across the stage to get my diploma? Hmm….hasn’t hit me yet. The M.S. wasn’t soo bad…haha IDK I guess my mission isn’t complete yet!

Let’s see what I think the day of…

And so far, I have had 344 views of this blog so far and I’m pretty surprised. Yesterday, the most views ever at 32 views. I’m glad you guys are reading this, to see how a new graduate is “succeeding in her life”. So let me tell you so far what I came across this week…

Drum roll

Sorry, but I WAS NOT able to attend the ASTD Monthly event because Tuesday I didn’t feel well. I slepted all day, really not a PostGradGG-style, but with all the stress of my upcoming life changes, including job interviewing, the graduation, the trip and nervousness of flying (haven’t flown in 8 years :X ) and my exercising..I guess my body needed a break.

But today was special..today I DID have an amazing meet up with an AMAZING Sales Trainer, David Lopez, and and I DID attend the 5th Annual ALPFA Latina Summit! Yay!

Now, here are my realizations from such a meet up:

-It is wonderful to do volunteer projects for businesses, because the experience is priceless!

- At the same time, you have have an affinity and respect for those you work with in business, esp. volunteer projects. Today was a such a day, giving me even more faith that things happen for a reason.

-One project has the ability to lead to the next one. To get the balling rolling, build off your last success, anfd just move forward with the next challenge.

-Be fair with your obligations, keep your promises, and it’s all about the relationship.

-I had been planning to get into sales training, and at this meeting, it was confirmed that I have the energy and right attitude to motivate a group of executives. This gave me confidence that I was on the right track.

-There is nothing worng with being transparent about your goals, esp. when networking as others may have a piece of advice or a key to your next step.

-I may have the education..aka “the smarts” but since I’m a new grad, it is competitive to nail that job. But I’m confident this will only be a short term problem, because as soon as I’m hired for a great company, I know my endless professional development, my creativity, my direct communication, and my people skills will supplement my increasing work experience.

-Again, I learned that I love the energy of being with other entrepreneurial-minded individiuals.

Therefore I HIGHLY recommend you look into this Sales Trainer, David Lopez, www.salestraining4startups.com

for 3 reasons

#1: He has a fantastic track record, including having been Vice President, Director of Training at Fleet Investment Management, Vice President, Global Business Development at Scudder Kemper Investments, Past President and Past Area Governor with Toastmasters International, amongst other lovely credentials.

#2. He has an incredible SALES PROCESS workshop coming up on June 22nd, 2011, in Maynard, MA for start-ups or established businesses. I learned all about it and I can tell you, it’s not all theory lecture and a waste of your time, it is purely at the technical, strategic level in developing a sales process or improving one.

Here’s the 411:

“This intensive workshop will focus on identifying each step of the sales process with exercises designed to create a selling process unique to your individual business. The second half of the workshop will focus on the creation of a customized business development program unique to your specific business.

Topics Include:

  •  Building a positioning statement
  • Needs Identification
  • Addressing concerns
  • Closing
  • Pre-call planning
  • Creating a compelling sales presentation
  • Current business development program analysis
  • Sales approach strategies
  • Pipeline management
  • Referral marketing
  • Sales activity goal setting
  • Business development action plan creation

Sign up here: http://salesprocessdesign.eventbrite.com/

Okay, look at that.

Who wouldn’t want this technical information whether you are in sales or managing a sales team?

#3. I have signed up to put my degree and consulting experience at Babson College, evaluate his program and put my PostGradGG magic on it. So you know it’s going to be amazing just like me. :)

Unto the next one: The Latina Leadership Summit

I got to be surrounded by hundreds of Latina professionals, while I listened to the international designer, Agatha Ruiz De La Prada discuss her 30-yr whimsical fashion empire!

In truth,  I almost walked straight up to her and introduced myself..I was close enough…

But…she was getting interviewed and had her posse, so I just ogled a bit, said a quick prayer for her future successes and moved on. She explained a few keys that really spoke to me:

1. “Do what you love, and each morning you will be motivated to get up and do the work.”

2. “Find the beauty in the difficulty of problems. Enjoy the challenges that problems brings.”

3. “Do what you are naturally good at it, and hire those who can support you” (She had always been a painter/artist, and I guess she parlayed that into being a Fashion Mogul! Pays better too!)

4. “Express your personality and be authentically passionate.”

Overall, my week has been good and tomorrow I will be packing my bags for Puerto Rico.

Did I mention I had a great phone interview for a training job today? And another potential good interview tomorrow? And I met a WONDERFUL coach, and trainer ONLINE (if you are reading this, you know who you are ;) that said she felt a connection with me and would like to team up in some way? Goood things coming my way..it’s expected.

I just hope to fly to P.R. in peace, and bask in the sun..while sneaking Twitter messages on the side..shh!

3 Days Until Graduation!+1 thing I know for Sure..

I know one thing for sure; one day my vision of the future and my talents will collide so dramatically I’ll look back and think,”I told you so.”

How do I know this? As I like to meditate, I just came across the revelation that I just have to keep on fighting the obstacles in my way and move forward.

I have a vision of my future, that includes the lux lifestyle I deserve, the way I will positively affect others in my industry…and the freedom I will have over my own fate in creating my legacy.

Everyone has a vision like this…but not many people work towards it in a consistant, positive way…

I understand that I’m a strategic and creative thinker, and if I keep developing my strengths, sooner or later these two paths will meet and I will have my “Moment” of Success. This moment will be continous and there will be no more of the old life, but much more of the wonderful life I had worked on for so many years.

I know this TRUTH in my gut, and that it’s guaranteed. I don’t know why, but it’s unbreakable. I have vision boards on my various plans on career, health, etc. and love reading inspirational books and quotes..want to know how to make your own “vision board”?

Then follow this link for instruction:
Vision Board Instructions!

Also, here is a video on Larry King Live about Vision Boards..

Also, I had some recent revelations about Training.

I tweeted them..here they go:

-Everyone was made of passion, so why let that light and energy die out? Cultivate the love of something and protect it=watch it’s growth.

-Usually, trying the new thing or taking the risk is the exact thing you need to do to get around the obstacles towards your dreams.

-There is a reason intuition/gut instincts are more valuable than facts. It’s the sum of all your life experiences and past decisions+spirit.

-Imagine your future clearly, and organize daily actions. No other method will produce results for the dreamer or inspire the overly detailed.

-Bad things happen at work or with coworkers?Always be fair and set boundaries and think positive.Respect is worth more than friendly smiles.

-All workers in a company want the same thing:”Listen to Me.Respect Me.Value Me.Challenge Me.Engage me.Inspire Me” Do this=you have an army.

-Give me a company that operates with INTEGRITY and you will find happy, productive employees that truly live for the corporate mission.

-Be a life-long learner, and the roads you travel will stun you.

-CEOs; What you give out for the true development of others will swing it’s energy forward propelling your business for the new times ahead.

-Employers, educate your staff well and invest in training always.$$ isn’t the only thing affected, it’s the the spirit of money-making too.

-You can’t predict where the true learner will be tomorrow, but you can know that they will reach a settled place for observation.

-Education is an investment in yourself that always pays more than what it costs to purchase. But it becomes worthless unless you take action.

-Always learn, never become stagnant. The world is way too fast for that kind of foolish behaviour..

Please share your your thoughts..what truths are Unbreakable for you?

I love Networking Events! This week’s adventures..

Just completed the Spark event on entrepreneurship which changed my life and mind…first step: I have purchased two domain names for my potential online businesses! Moving forward with my PRODUCT idea, nailed my coaching certification area of expertise (Health and Beauty!), plan to totally reenergize my sister’s business, help jumpstart my younger, rocker Hairstylist’s brand using social media..and even picking up a Voice Over class. Moving forward! Now…

Excited! This week has 3 big events..

-the 5th Annual Latina Summit/Women of ALFPA,
Sponsored by Goldman Sachs; where internationally recognized fashion designer Agatha Ruiz De La Prada will talk about entrepreneurship!

Graduation in 8 days! Plus Free Trainer Job Aid!

I have been away for a while, much apologies for that, but thank you for the 235 views I have had so far! This blog writing experience at 3 weeks has been def. educational, and aim to make it better over time!..FYI..in between mixes of some rest and celebration, I have also been very busy with webinars, and networking at the Spark and Hustle event! which ends tomorrow, Sat the 14th.

The amazing, LIFE CHANGING range of information I have have encountered from the truly stellar top notch speaker line up has been life changing to me. I have learned information from marketing, how to write a business plan, how to pitch, set a price point, negotiate, provide a value proposition, how to network, create compelling webinars, be great with social media and web design, blogging tips, franchising, how to sell a product, sell a service, find angel investors..the list goes on so much that I feel like I am getting an MBA from Harvard Business School in entrepreneurship!

I’m much impressed, Tori Johnson! One day you will want me to tell my story! :)

I’m even more in love with the idea of being a young female business owner, and I have at least 3 personal business ideas, and 2 family-related business ideas I’m mulling over as I write this.

I’m so happy right now that I’m going to share a Free Trainer Job Aid:
PDF: “12 habits for success checklist”

PDF: “12 habits for success checklist”

Some highlights of my day:-Meeting someone who is passionate about training as much as I am!
-Making new Twitter friends
-Helping several people with their business ideas, it’s funny how you can always provide a nugget of advice that is helpful!
-Meeting someone that convinced me to take that “Voice Over Class” as it would be helpful as I’m a future trainer..thank you!

I have come to realize I may want to expand this blog in a bigger way…in a few weeks you will see what I mean.
Will share my favorite tibbits tomorrow. Till next time,
